EAT: Jack's Chill & Spicy Tales | Eat, Drink and Talk Here!

June 18, 2017

Just opened its door back in December 2016, being only 5th month in the business, Jack's Chill & Spicy Tales is definitely a new spot for some drinks and good Indochina food. South East Asian cuisine under one roof!

According to Chris (one of the owner), his restaurant name carries such meaning in each word, I find it pretty interesting so I had to share it with you guys.

  • Jack's - one of the owner's name of course
  • Chill - a place to sit back and relax
  • Spicy - well, spicy Indochina food (Chris said they actually tuned down the spiciness of their dish)
  • Tales - a place for story sharing

Ambiance

Entrance, located at the Ground Floor of shop lot in the hustle bustle SS2.

Interior with minimal table setting, able to host up to 50 pax at a time.

Indochina decoration in the restaurant.

Main Course

1. Crispy Fried Tofu-Pok with Fragrant Pork Filling, RM10.00

This is my favorite among all, the combination is so refreshing, not to mention that the tofu-pok is still crispy with gravy. A MUST TRY!

2. Garlic Prawn Set, RM12.00

This dish is very similar to the kam heong flavor, but it's spicier, because it's more of a fusion from Laos dishes.

3. Prawn Sautéed with Coconut Milk, RM14.00

The gravy tasted very similar to green curry, it goes very well with the rice.

4.Squid with Pork Filling in Spicy & Sweet paste, RM15.00

Hand-picked mini size of squid to ensure the chewiness of the squid.
According to Chris, if the size of the squid is too big, longer cooking time is required hence the squid may end up tasting like bubble gum.

5. Vietnam Style Fried Chicken Drumsticks, RM12.00

Generous portion with 2 drumsticks!
Well marinated with in-house Vietnamese sauce.

Ala Carte

I must say that these dishes that we sample is really good pair with beer, it is very flavorful.

1. Fried Chicken Wings with Glutinous Rice as Spice, RM10.00

Again, glutinous rice as seasoning, and the chicken wings was very tender.

2. Spicy Pork Stir-Fry with Spring Onion, RM12.00

The pork was sliced at it's perfect thickness and very tender, thumbs up for this!

Drinks

Their beverage menu was extensive (some are pretty exotic), there's still a lot more to try besides these 10 drinks, namely Vietnam Sweet Assam Drink (with fried peanuts), Orangenade, Lemonade, Strawberry Smoothie, Oreo Smoothie, Passion Fruit Cooler, plus mocktail - Pussyfoot, Virgin Pinacolada, Shirley-Temple, Mango Lime Tea.
All drinks price is ranging from RM2.00 - RM8.00.

Not to forget some beer on the tap as well, even the beer was priced very affordably.

Do check out the set lunch and dinner for more valuable meal.

Overall, I am impressed with the quality of food that Jack's Chill & Spicy Tales serve, with such an affordable price range. Definitely coming back for more good food.
