EAT: Casual Japanese Dining @ Isetan Lot 10 | Dashi Dining Saya & Delica Saya
July 07, 2017I had never been able to make time to visit the brand new Isetan @ Lot 10 since it's reopening even I had heard so many good feedback about it.
Nevertheless, indeed it is very upscale, different from the usual Isetan, and this Isetan in Lot 10 included many authentic Japanese eateries, from main, to dessert, to coffee.
DASHI Dining Saya & Delica SAYA
This time round, we visited the authentic casual Japanese dining to sample the Japanese main course. It is very easy to locate, at right next to escalator at level LG.
It has two section, on the left side is for dine-in, with open kitchen concept and seated on high bar stool; and the right hand side is meant for take-away.
What is Dashi?
Dashi is a Japanese stock (broth), and it is a fundamental ingredient in many Japanese dishes.
Dashi is made from kombu (dried kelp), bonito flakes (dried and smoked skipjack tuna that is shaved into thin flakes), anchovies/ sardine (iriko or niboshi), or a combination of all or two of them.

Dashi is used in many different Japanese dishes, such as miso soup, noodle soup, donburi, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), simmered dishes like Nikujaga and more.

1. Take Set (松花堂六格), RM38A combination 6 Japanese dishes, consisting Fried Chicken "Saya" Style, Traditional Japanese Stew, Hokkaido Croquette (beef/vegetable), Japanese Omelette, Tomato with "DASHI" Ginger and Tofu and Kinoko Mushroom with Dashi Sauce.
Absolutely love the tomato, it is mildly sweeten and very refreshing.
2. Fried Chicken with Tartar Sauce, RM27
The fried chicken was very flavorful, crispy skin and juicy meat.
3. Rice with Hot Dashi Soup Grilled Salmon Flake, RM27
Dashi soup was served in a teapot, and one supposed to pour the soup into the bowl of rice like below to enjoy it.
Do not hesitate to ask for refill of Dashi soup, it is free of charge.
5. Curry Saya Style, RM24
I like that everything is made to order, and I like that their curry is served with more vegetable whereby other Japanese restaurant tend to serve small amount vegetable only.
6. Steam Egg and Dashi Soup "SAYA STYLE", RM7
Simple but most challenging dishes to be made, and this definitely doesn't disappoint, too.
Take Out Section
One can choose from their ready made dishes and mix their own meal from the take out counter.
Or their daily special bento set.
